The best things in life are often unexpected. Unanticipated surprises generally result in the most genuinely happy and joyful moments in a person’s lifetime. Just think about it: proposals, presents, spontaneous weekend trips. They all have one thing in common: Someone didn’t see something coming, and as a result, were pleasantly surprised with what ending up occurring. This was true for me personally in more ways than one this past summer. I didn’t think I would be working at all over the break. To my surprise, I was offered a position as a summer camp counselor at Christ Chapel Academy. I was to be working with Bethany (whom I’d gone to high school with) and Mrs. Cole (whose son I’d also gone to high school with). And boy, I had NO idea what I was in for… those hot summer days spent helping with the kindergarten and first grade classes were filled with laughter, friendship, and adventures. I never would have thought that I would get the chance to befriend the people I did at a “job.” God truly blessed me with allowing me to work at CCA and get to know Bethany and Mrs. Cole on a deeper level.
Sadly, our summer camp days had to come to an end… but while I went back to school and Mrs. Cole went back to being a kindergarten teacher, Bethany hopped on a plane and moved to ENGLAND!! As nervous and excited as she was, she thought she was going to get away without having her coworkers throw a little surprise going away party for her. On her last Friday of work, Mrs. Cole and I giggled as we pretended to say goodbye. We had been planning this tea party-themed get together for over a month, and we couldn’t wait to see the look on her face as she walked through the door! Bethany, we hope you enjoyed your mini tea party before heading off to the motherland, and we hope even more that you are having an incredible time in England. We miss you dearly, and I can’t wait to see you again and hear all about your experience!
