I climbed into my PT cruiser with two camera bodies, four Nikon lenses, and a whole lot of excitement. It was the first weekend in October and the leaves were just starting to change, but the weather was sunny and warm. It was going to be a beautiful day for a wedding… and I was going to be there not as a guest, but as a photographer to capture it! Just a couple weeks before, I had sat across from Tim of Timyantz Photography and almost screamed YES! when he asked me to second shoot for him at his October 5th wedding. I had been looking for a second shooter myself, and someone had recommended Tim to me… and I am SO glad they did!! Our short meeting at Starbucks had turned into a four hour long talk full of tricks of the trade and industry trends. Tim is so incredibly intelligent and I walked away just overflowing with information and newfound excitement for the art.
Flash forward two weeks, and there we were, rolling down the highway, music turned up loud, SO ready to work together and capture Ross and Liz’s wedding day!! As we pulled up at the beautiful Historic Whitehall Estate in Leesburg, Virginia, my jaw literally dropped. It’s no secret that I LOVE weddings. I’ve studied a lot of venues and themes and deco and stationary and reception sites. And this venue, which is essentially a gorgeous mansion turned into a ceremony and reception site, is just lovely. It fit perfectly with Ross & Liz’s fall theme! Liz looked absolutely beautiful with her stunning red hair in her gorgeous gown… have you ever met someone that made you feel like you were their BEST friend within two seconds of meeting them?! Yea, that just about sums up Liz!! She is just the sweetest person! Not to mention all of her bridesmaids were also just so warm and welcoming. I found myself trying to take pictures and talk about me and Justin at the same time because they just wanted to know all about the ring on my right hand and when I was getting engaged!! It was just overall such a fun and exciting day. I felt like I had known Liz and Ross for years and was experiencing this special day with them as a friend and not just another vendor. Tim, thank you so much for asking me to assist you at Ross & Liz’s wedding, and I can’t wait to work together again in the future!!
The bridal party started the day at the salon, which just so happened to be right beside the best coffee shop in all of Virginia. Okay, that’s a personal opinion, but the salted caramel latte I tried was the best thing I’ve ever tasted… and I’m not a coffee drinker! Thanks for turning me into a coffee lover, Liz! ;)
Liz was obviously the local celebrity for the morning… she had more than one person stop and ask to take a picture with her!!
I can’t even describe how perfect the bridal suite is at Whitehall Estate… so much window light!
MARRIED!! I love the pose Liz & Ross wanted to do in that second picture…!
Reception time! LOVED their cake!! The flowers were so pretty!
Saved my favorite shot from the night for last!! You two make such a great couple and I am so excited about what the Lord has planned for your life together! Thanks for letting me be a part of your wedding day!!
Megan, you were a gem to work with! Thank you so much for laboring with me for Ross & Elizabeth. Seriously, you and Matthew both were amazing and I’m very thankful to have had you aboard.
Great shots, by the way! You’ve seriously got a future ahead of you.
Take care!

Beautiful! Hard to believe this was just second-shooting.. I can imagine how over-the-moon Ross and Liz must be!
