Romantic Styled Capitol Hill Engagement Session | Kelly & Zach

I first met Kelly shortly after Justin and I got engaged. We had entered into a wedding giveaway and after we came in second place, there were dozens of REALLY amazing people who stepped forward to say they would love to be a part of making our wedding day dreams come true and Kelly was one of those people. I remember looking at her Facebook page and being absolutely BLOWN away by her nighttime Washington DC portraits on Capitol Hill. They were so romantic and dreamy!! I kept thinking, oh my goodness, this girl is talented… a few months later, I got the chance to work with Kelly and she was a dream in person, too! She was so sweet and kind, and we talked about how tough it is being engaged for a long time and waiting on God’s timing. We both agreed that though the wait was long and sometimes pretty miserable, we knew marriage would be worth it… and now somehow, almost two years later, Justin and I are married and I’m shooting Kelly and Zach’s engagement photos! What?! That just blows my mind. It’s seriously the sweetest thing to be a part of this season with Kelly, especially after all of our conversations over the years. I can’t believe she’s getting married in less than two months and that I get to be a part of it in such a special way.

When I parked on Capitol Hill I had a little bit of nerves but mostly just EXCITEMENT to shoot such a gorgeous couple at such an amazing location!! I knew Kelly was going to look absolutely stunning and I was right. I think my eyes got a little teary as I spotted the two of them walking up to meet me! Kelly was in a gorgeous floor length Lulu gown and carried a bouquet that she made HERSELF. She is so insanely talented!! This shoot was literally the definition of a dream from start to finish and Kelly and Zach honestly deserve nothing less. They’re both so sweet and so good together and I can’t wait to follow along with all of their newlywed adventures as the years go on. Kelly and Zach, thank you so much for entrusting me with the honor of being your wedding photographer and capturing these memories for you in such a beautiful way.
