Wow! First of all, the number of weddings I got to photograph in 2020 was low compared to normal… but the few I got to be a part of were truly remarkable! One of my favorites of the year was Bethany and Sean’s. For one, this elegant Virginia backyard wedding at the groom’s residence was in Fairfax, just down the street from the apartment Justin and I lived in once upon a time. Sweet memories! Secondly, not only Bethany and Sean’s property charming and beautiful… there was also a massive backyard that had ample room to accommodate a spacious ceremony site and a large reception tent. Guests mingled in the front yard for cocktail hour, sipping passed glasses of wine and the couple’s signature drink, the “Covid Cocktail.” Every detail and piece of decor felt unique to the day, and everywhere you looked, there was something sparkling and pretty. It was gorgeous what Bethany and Sean did with their home to host this celebration!
An Elegant Virginia Backyard Wedding in Fairfax
I loved the simple and sophisticated theme that transformed this private residence into a wedding venue. There were plenty of personal elements, from hand lettered signs to framed engagement photos scattered throughout the grounds. The gold chiavari chairs and lanterns brought warmth and elegance to the reception tablescapes. Guests felt like the rest of the world had been paused for the evening as the wedding festivities transported them to another world. It was magical!
Bethany and Sean, thank you so much for having me be a part of your wedding day. It was so special and brought so much joy to my shorter than normal wedding season. I hope you love these photos for years to come and that they only become more cherished as time goes on.
