Tis the season for proposals… and engagement parties, weddings, and wedding planning! Love is in the air, and with the gorgeous backdrop of Springtime, it is the perfect time for outdoor portraiture. The flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, and everything just feels so fresh and new. Being with Victoria and Spencer is no different. I met Victoria at my college’s freshman orientation. We were supposed to be roommates, but when it didn’t work out that way, we stayed friends throughout our first couple semesters before she changed schools. When I heard she was engaged, I literally shrieked. Victoria is so beautiful and just so put together. I immediately imagined her wedding as the definition of elegance. So when she asked me if I would photograph their engagement session, I was ecstatic. It was Cherry Blossom Festival weekend in the city, and the weather was absolutely perfect. When she and Spencer rounded the corner of the Smithsonian Institute’s castle, it was all I could do to not jump up and down. I had so many places in mind to take pictures around the National Mall and I couldn’t wait to meet Spencer. It didn’t take more than a couple shots to realize that I was working with two naturals here!! They were just so comfortable to be themselves in front of the camera, and as a result their love came through every shot! These two are just so in love with each other and I was so grateful to be able to capture that love for them. We started the session in downtown Washington D.C. around the National Mall…For the second part of their session, Victoria wanted to meet back at the placed Spencer proposed to her. Great Falls! Even though we shot during mid-day (which can sometimes be kind of scary for photographers!), it turned out to be a gorgeous session… why don’t I shoot at this park more often?!She said YES!!!Spencer and Victoria, thank you so much for letting me spend a couple hours with you and for hiking around the city AND the woods for some pictures!! I absolutely cannot wait to see how beautiful your wedding is next year. Best of luck to the both of you…!
