Oahu Portrait Photographer | Makapu’u Portrait Photography // I have been so excited to share this shoot since I shot it a few weeks ago in Hawaii! Getting to explore beautiful places when you love to travel is one thing… but getting to explore those places with two really awesome people with a camera in my hand?! Even better!!! Ari and Fuji have only been together for a short time, but I could tell right away after meeting them that they are perfect for each other and that they share a love founded in mutual respect and a passion for keeping life FUN. I had asked Ari where she thought would be best for a shoot on the island before I had gotten there and she suggested Makapu’u and it could not have been better! It’s always tricky figuring out how the light falls in a different part of the world at different times of the day, and as the sun set behind the mountain we had just enough reflective light coming in off of the ocean to give Ari & Fuji a pop of color amidst the palm trees and rock cliffs. I kept saying, “I can’t believe this is real life!!!” It felt so surreal to be shooting and doing what I love in one of the most beautiful places in the world. There was even one point that Fuji stopped, pointed out across the water and told me to look out toward the island. I looked up and saw a handful of whales jumping out of the water and flipping their tales!!! It was so amazing! We just stood there and watched for 5 minutes! I will truly never forget it. I can’t wait to someday double date with these two when I’m back in Hawaii with Justin! :) It was so wonderful getting a little glimpse into their life in Oahu! And this will forever be one of my favorite shoots! :)
We started our session at Waimanalo Bay State Park!
They brought their two little ones along and it was awesome!!!
Ohhh that light!!!
This was all within a 50 foot radius! I love how versatile Hawaii is!
So sweet! :)
Then we headed down the street to Makapu’u!
Favorite!!!
Ari you are gorgeous!!
I loved this tree! So pretty.
And then….!
When you shoot in Hawaii, you use lifeguard stands as props. YES.
They had so much fun together!!
I’m still pinching myself over this… I can’t wait until the next time I get to hang out with these two! :)
