Some people shy away from winter engagement shoots… sometimes it’s the photographer who suggests waiting until spring and sometimes it’s the couple who want to wait for warmer weather and leaves all the trees. But oftentimes, those aren’t my couples. My brides and grooms LOVE winter engagement sessions and Matt and Colleen were no different!! The light was glowy and beautiful as we met at the top of a mountain in wine country, Virginia to capture their Bluemont Vineyard engagement photos. I had forgotten how beautiful this little state of ours can be from such a high peak! This hidden gem is only a short 20 minute drive away from where Matt and Colleen live and it was just perfect for their engagement session location! These two strike me as the adventurous type, and these photos have that feel to them.
My favorite part was finishing up at the brewery with two beers in hand. I was even treated to a beer courtesy of Matt and Colleen before heading home! As we sat looking at the sunset over the open fields of vineyards and country homes, I couldn’t help but get excited for their Virginia farm wedding this October. It’s going to be here so soon, and I can’t wait to see these two all dressed up in such a beautiful place as they say their “I Do’s!” Matt and Colleen, thank you for such a memorable shoot, and happy wedding planning!!

Gosh, these two were up for anything! It can’t get any better than sitting on the edge of a cliff overlooking such a beautiful landscape!
This little rock structure is is rumored to be a bear’s den… we didn’t see any bears despite my eagerness to find one (Colleen kindly reminded me that bears hibernate in the winter), but I think if I was a bear this little cove would be the perfect spot to camp out for the winter :)
And then it was time to head back down the mountain and then right back up the hill for this stunning view!!
What’s an engagement session without some beer?!
