Charleston On Film | Part I

January 14, 2016

Not quite two months ago, I found myself in the charming little historic port town of Charleston, South Carolina. I was there for a conference, but naturally, some exploring and adventuring was done along the way :) Justin’s aunt lives just outside of the city, so Meredith and I extended our stay far past the conference days on both ends and spent about a week in the south, taking pictures, eating fried food, drinking mimosas (okay, that was just me), and just uncovering as much of this magical place as possible. We’ll be back in Charleston in a few days on our way to someplace further south, but I’m already excited to be walking these streets again and to grab some breakfast at Magnolia’s! Nothing beats their $5 mimosas and fried green tomatoes. Weird combo, I know. But when in The South. ;)

I’ve been doing some experimenting with film lately and for this trip I brought along one roll of Kodak Ektar and another roll of some super cheap Fuji 200 film. The shots below are mostly from the Ektar roll, with the last few being the exception. This is just Part I because I ended up having over 100 images after editing these and creating the black and white copies!! There’s just something about film that makes me feel like I’m an artist again. It requires a bit more intention and delivers rewarding results for the creativity it requires. It’s truly enchanting, and these scans are truly something special to hold on to from our trip! Hopefully I’ll be adding a few more adventures to the film collection soon!
