Doug and Danielle met in college, on the steps of the OMAC, Brown University’s indoor track facility. They were both high jumpers on the track team, and the occasion was the first captains’ practice of the fall. They became friends through the first semester, frequently meeting at The Gate, a university-run late-night snack spot on the northern side of Brown’s campus. As Doug recalls, “The pizza was not very good.” But having each other’s company was. They remained friends after college, including a period when they could easily be described as each other’s best friend. Some distance grew between the two of them during Danielle’s first year of law school, and the distance grew a bit more while Doug was in law school as well. Fate would have it that they would both eventually end up working in downtown Washington. From their first accidental date at a Phantom of the Opera performance (the rest of their group never showed up) to their shared career as Washington lawyers, Doug and Danielle’s relationship has become a fundamental part of who they are; when asked to describe their relationship in three words, they responded with “Bedrock. Abiding. Constitutional… it makes us who we are.” In a few weeks, Doug and Danielle will tie the knot in Old Town Alexandria, and I could not think of a better place for these two to get married than in a city that sits on the doorstep of our nation’s capitol. Doug and Danielle, I feel so honored to have met you this year, and even more honored to be your wedding photographer. I can’t wait for your wedding day to get here!
So, my lens was definitely fogged up for the first few minutes of our shoot… it was SO humid that evening! But I think I like the effect it had on these shots!!
Danielle, you are stunning!
Favorite!
Because when there’s a railroad around, it’s pretty much impossible to resist…
Love these next few! This old train made the best prop!
Another favorite…!
Clifton has some of the coolest little shops!
It also has a barn… seriously, best of both worlds with this spot.
Fall is JUST around the corner… and you could see it just starting to peek through the last few shots of Doug & Danielle’s shoot!!
And then the sun went down and these two ordered coffee and I made them sneak around the corner for just a few more twilight shots with Christmas lights glowing in the background. Loved this entire session and I can’t WAIT for this wedding!!!
Beautiful pictures and subjects
