The first thing I thought of after I put together my list of bridesmaids was how to ask them. I wanted to make each one of them feel special and to surprise them with something that would show them just how much they mean to me and how excited I am to have them be a part of our big day… and I wanted it to be pretty and give a little glimpse into the overall theme of our wedding, too! I scoured Pinterest for HOURS looking for the cutest stationary, boxes, monogrammed mugs, etc. and the search was actually pretty fruitless. I didn’t want to send anything that could break in the mail, and nothing felt like US. So I decided to throw Pinterest out and get creative on my own! These boxes ended up being so much fun to put together and even though I walked away with a pinched nerve in my back from hunching over my bedroom floor for eight hours, it was totally worth it!!! And seeing the looks on my bridesmaids faces when they opened them was absolutely priceless! If you’re a bride who hasn’t yet spoiled your bridesmaids… a simple gift can go a long way. These boxes brought tears to my girls’ eyes and it was so precious asking them to be a part of my wedding day in this way. So, here’s how I put my DIY Bridesmaid Proposal together!
Have you ever browsed the Target stationary aisle? I’m not sure why I just asked that. Of course you have. It’s a great place to start while putting ANY sort of gift together… stickers and glitter tape heaven. It’s also where I found the actual boxes!
I had a few Kate Space correspondence cards lying around and decided to use those for the actual letter to my bridesmaids! On one side it read this and on the other was a personalized note saying how excited I was to have them be a part of my wedding day!
I picked up some crinkle paper from Michael’s that matched the overall color palette I was going for and laid that out in every box, adding the gifts on top. Each maid got an Essie nail polish, Ulta body wash or The Body Shop hand lotion, some gold Lindt chocolates, and a handwritten note… decorated with fun striped straws and a pop of gold!
The lid of the box was my favorite part! I shared some details about our day (because we hadn’t announced our date or venue yet at this point), their specific role as a bridesmaid, who the other maids were, and what our first outing together would be!
I’m SO glad I chose to do a little gift for my bridesmaids and my absolute favorite part was watching them open their boxes. There were two girls I didn’t get to see open theirs (one because she lives far away and one because I dropped it off at her house) and if there’s one thing I wish I could change, I would have made sure to see EVERYONE open the box… even if it had to be over Facetime!! It was soo special, especially asking my maid of honor. I love all these girls and I can’t WAIT to have them stand by my side as I marry the love of my life!!
