It was a mild 17 degrees the day I met Jake and Jenna for their engagement session at Jerusalem Mill in Abingdon, Maryland. I had just gotten back from Europe and driving up that way in Maryland was a new adventure for me. As my tiny little red car stuggled to keep traction with the ice covered back roads, I wondered how this shoot would go in far below freezing weather. Jake and Jenna had already rescheduled their engagement session twice before… once because I came down with the flu (it was BAD… Jenna kindly told me, “You sound like CRAP” as soon as I called her! Lol!) and another time because it was pouring rain the day we had rescheduled to. Thankfully, these two are SO lighthearted and easygoing, that their good sense of humor they share allowed them to laugh it off about their “cursed” engagement shoot that kept getting canceled. So even though it was likely the coldest day of the year, we were NOT going to let that stop us!! We were one of the very few crazy people to be outside that day, but it made for a quiet and secluded feel to the shoot. The snow glistened on the groud as we crunched our way across the grounds. I might have slipped more than once on our trips back to the car to warm up!! But with Jake and Jenna, it felt like a fun adventure with two old friends I’d known for a long time! Their entire shoot was full of so much JOY. Jenna’s laugh is so contagious and from just five minutes with these two, I could tell that they share a relationship founded in being each other’s best friend. To say I’m excited for their wedding day would be an understatement…. judging from their engagement session (in 17 degrees nonetheless!!) it’s going to be SO much fun!!!
One of my favorites and it was one of the first shots we took!!
And then the sun peaked out from behind the clouds… love the light!!
You really can’t tell it was SO freezing cold!! They were pros!
Loooove….
Okay, this deserves a trophy… these two… are DEDICATED Ravens fans, y’all. 17. degrees. and they were in jerseys. SO awesome.
And Jenna’s ring is just so pretty! It reminded me a little bit of my own halo ring! I love being a bride and working with other amazing brides, too!! Can’t wait for Jake and Jenna’s May 2nd wedding!!!
