I can’t believe it’s been a month since I was photographing Annalee and Scot alongside 7 other wedding photographers who attended the first Wedding Workshop at the Delight House! I loved getting to be a Lake Chelan Wedding Photographer for the day and it was so much fun staging a wedding day – getting ready photos in the Delight House, reception details in the apple orchard, and bride + groom portraits in an open field with the mountains of Washington looming over us! What a dream!!! Annalee is one talented woman. She did the florals, cake, and decor for this shoot and it was amazing. Just wait until you see!! Annalee and Scot, I hope you LOVE these photos and treasure them for years to come! Congratulations on so many happy years of marriage and wishing you many many more!! Xoxo!
Getting ready portion of the day! We talked about finding and utlizing natural light, minimizing distractions, creating clean detail shots, and staging natural getting ready poses.
Time for details!! Love the gold touches!
We talked about what lens to use for detail shots, how to shoot on eye level for publication-worthy images, and getting a variety of shots from various angles of each detail.
Then it was time to wander into the apple orchard to begin bride and groom portraits!
And then… the mountains!!!
And here are my film shots from the shoot! Canon Elan & Kodak Gold Film, scanned by Richard Photo Lab.
Gorgeous pictures. Such beautiful shots and incredible lighting. Lovely couple!
Thanks Sharon!! They are the sweetest couple!
Wow! This is so gorgeous. The lighting and vintage touches are perfect!
I loved the vintage touches as well!!
WOW! These are stunning! I love the mountain shots! I’m amazed at the light you were able to find in the apple orchard! How is the couple perfectly lit and not GREEN! :) I have that problem when shooting in greenery like that.
Hi Ariella!! Thanks so much! It was pretty dark in the orchard but I shot at f/1.8 and shutter 1/200 and that let in enough light for a proper exposure! I also shot in Kelvin white balance and adjusted my white balance grid to just a bit more magenta rather than green to compensate for all the green light being cast off of the leaves!! And if it was too green after all of that you can always adjust white balance in Lightroom and use a brush to adjust the tint of the subject’s skin tone ;) I totally have to be super intentional about my lighting when shooting under such GREEN trees!!
Thank you Megan! I’m glad to know it WAS green and you were able to fix it so magically in camera and post! I just started using Kelvin the other day and haven’t gotten the hang of it yet! But I’ll keep trying, since WB is my least favorite thing to edit! :) Can’t wait to get to come to a Delight Retreat and learn! I live in WA, so I can drive over!
Oh my goodness you need to go one!! It’s amazing! And don’t worry – it takes a while to get the hang of Kelvin! I always start at 5700 and adjust from there!! :)
I can’t wait to go! Thanks for the tip!
Her bouquet!!! Those colors!!!
Right?! SO pretty!! Especially for Fall!
Beautiful! I love the mountain photos!!
Thanks Lee!! Me too!
Beautiful, beautiful pictures…I am sucker for anything with mountains!! Great shots, and the lighting was perfect!!
Thanks Marie!! The mountains were so much fun to shoot with as a backdrop! And gotta love that golden hour glow ;) Though I will say it comes a little earlier when the sun sets behind a mountain and not the horizon! :)
Gorgeous setting! I love the little owls and the vintage china!! The image with her sipping is adorable!!
I loved the china and owls too!! They were so cute! The bride did all the styling… she’s amazing!
