This beautiful wedding day at Manoir de Kerouzien in Plomelin, Quimper in the Brittany region of France is going to blow you away! Anais & Etienne had a DREAM day. Everything was so romantic, sweet, and thoughtful, including all of the incredible details (and food!) set out for their guests to enjoy. Justin and I pulled up to Manoir de Kerouzien and our jaws dropped! What a beautiful place! The manor sits on a hillside overlooking the water, where sailboats drift by and seagulls glide over its sparkling surface. The stone architecture of the manor took us back in time and the vines, gardens, and blooms everywhere were just so pretty. It didn’t feel real! I was so excited to celebrate with Anais & Etienne after communicating online for the better half of a year. I couldn’t believe their wedding had finally arrived and Justin and I were going to be a part of it as their wedding photographers!
Manoir de Kerouzien Wedding in Plomelin, Quimper Brittany France
We arrived around 8am to start photographing bridal details and getting ready photos. After their (emotional) First Look and bridal party portraits, Anais & Etienne headed to their civil ceremony in town about an hour away while Justin and I went to grab lunch (and take a quick nap to rest up for the evening)! A few hours later, we met them at the docks where they boarded a little sailboat to SURPRISE their guests by arriving via the sea for their ceremony! Everyone loved it!! Anais & Etienne had about a dozen loved ones get up and say a few words during their ceremony by the water. We couldn’t understand everything, but judging by everyone’s smiles and happy tears, the words were heartfelt and sweet! After their exchange of vows and first kiss at the altar, they hugged their family and friends in celebration as cocktail hour began!
In France, there is an emphasis on food… it’s not just there to eat, it’s there to facilitate conversation, memories, and family time! A French wedding reception is typically 8-12 hours long because of this! Cocktail hour featured speeches by family members and friends with plenty of hors d’oeuvres to go around. Guests trickled into the reception tent where Anais & Etienne soon entered in the most excitable fashion I’ve ever seen: French newlyweds run around all of the tables as everyone claps and cheers! Then, after a welcome speech (and sunset photos of course), dinner begins! We felt so spoiled during this part of the day because the catering staff waited on us hand and foot. We had our own table outside, they changed out our silverware for us between courses, and even brought appetizers, palette cleansers, glasses of wine, AND dessert in addition to the main course! I wish every wedding could be like that – I’d never go hungry during a reception again!! It was amazing experiencing all of the different foods and we couldn’t stop raving about how incredible this entire wedding was!
After the meal was done, there were games to be played (like the newlywed game and karaoke!) and slideshows to watch. It was so entertaining! Then dancing was underway and before we knew it, we were giving hugs goodbye and saying our thank you’s and “see you soon!” I can’t believe we got to capture an authentic French wedding for the sweetest French couple – we loved everything about it and wish we could do it again!! Thankfully, we have over a thousand photos to remember this sweet day by and so do Anais and Etienne and all of their family and friends!
Thank you so much to this amazing couple for flying us in from the United States to be a part of their special day. It will forever be one of the highlights of my life!
Special thanks to these amazing wedding vendors for making this day so beautiful!
