Two weeks ago, my sister Alexa texted us as we were on our way to Indiana for Thanksgiving and said she had a “once in a lifetime” surprise for us! Alexa tends to get excited about a lot of things, so we all kind of rolled our eyes a bit… like, “It better not be something dumb Alexa.” The surprise was that she had actually won 3 tickets to seats at the National Christmas Tree lighting! Over 2.5 million people entered the lottery, and Alexa was one of 3,000 winners to walk away with tickets! So yea, it was pretty exciting!! Sorry for not believing in you, Alexa! Haha! So last Thursday, Mia and I drove up to Pentagon City Mall, grabbed lunch, and then headed to meet my dad at the White House to take our seats for the show. The coolest part was definitely getting to see our President speak in person! I was surprised at how grey his hair really is… poor thing. I can only imagine the stress he’s been under these past 6 years. It was wonderful to see him and his family celebrate with us! One thing I’m trying to get better at doing is bringing my camera along to more personal/family outings… so I brought it to this and captured the best parts of the evening! Enjoy! And if you’ve never been to the lighting before, it’s definitely worth going at least once! :)
We got lunch at Johnny Rocket’s. THE best. I hadn’t had a malt milkshake in a while…! My favorite!!
The line of people waiting to get in!
And this was the veiw from our seats!
The tree!!
Sisters… :)
The White House was really right there! Didn’t realize how close the tree is to the Obama’s front yard!
There were LOTS of people!
And then the show began!
That’s Tom Hanks! Lol! So cool hearing his legendary voice in person.
And then the Obama’s counted down to light the tree!
Overall, it was an exciting evening and I’m so glad we got to go to the lighting AND see President Obama in person. Definitely a neat experience and allowed us to get excited about a Christmas tree since we aren’t putting one up of our own this year! Thanks for the chance to experience this, Alexa!! :)
