I first met Morgan and Kevin last May at Colby & Krissy’s breathtaking destination wedding in Alkumal, Mexico. When Morgan contacted me earlier this summer about her wedding, I got SO excited about the possibility of hanging out with these two again! Then she asked me if it were possible that we do their engagement photos near their home in Denver, Colorado… and then I REALLY got excited!!! It’s always special when couples choose to incorporate elements that are unique to their relationship and their love story for their engagement session, and having this shoot in Red Rocks Canyon in Morrison, Colorado and at Lake Dillon at the foot of the Rocky Mountains just took that personal touch to an entirely new level!! I started scouting out Red Rocks a couple of days before the shoot because I was just a little nervous about shooting in such a phenomenal location and I wanted it to be PERFECT for Morgan and Kevin. Well, I think it was!! Between the rocks and the lake and the mountains… this session was like something I dreamt up when I first began to fantasize about becoming a wedding photographer. Even with the ripped pants and cactus needle stuck in my foot!! LOL! You guys were so awesome for laughing WITH me… and not AT me… or maybe it was a mix of both?! Hahaha!!! My poor jeans. I was just so dedicated to getting THE shot by squatting in that brush… I’m literally laughing out loud typing this… Ohh, good times.
Morgan and Kevin, I’m not sure if you know how much of an absolute dream this was for me to meet you guys in Colorado for your engagement session… but it really was so amazing and such a dream come true. And these pictures!! GAH!!! Spending these few hours with you two made me that much more excited for your wedding day next year! I can’t WAIT!!! We drove around to the other side of the lake (after I changed from my ripped jeans back into my shorts, which thank goodness I had kept in the car!). The sun had just set behind the mountain, casting a glow on everything twilight touched…
And then the sky lit up pink and orange and gold and we took a moment to soak it all in. I can’t believe I get to be a part of your wedding day, Morgan + Kevin!!
