Rememeber when I talked about that engagment session that seemed like it was sent straight from heaven?! Samantha and Charles are one of those couples that you instantly fall in love with the second you meet them. When Sam told me she was a vintage girl at heart, I knew their engagement session was going to be unforgettable. Not only do they have the sweetest love story, but it was also apparent from just a few hours with them that the love they share is so genuine, kind, and rooted in an unbreakable friendship. Charlie was so polite and accommodating, and with their incredible vintage-themed outfit, it really was almost like I was photographing Noah and Allie on a date at the county fair in 1945! I love how these two incorporated multiple personal touches that reflected who they are as a couple: Sam’s polka-dot vintage dress, Charlie’s tweed cap, the touching story about Sam’s tattoo… even her ring had a vintage feel to it! From the gorgeous golden morning light to the “smiling” farm animals, this entire engagement session was remarkable from start to finish. I can only imagine how beautiful their wedding day is going to be!!!
From the Bride: Charlie and I met three years ago (even though it sure doesn’t feel that long!) at the company he was working for at the time. My mom is the payroll manager there, so one day while I was visiting with her he walked in to talk to her about something. I don’t even remember what it was, because the whole time he was in there I couldn’t stop staring at him. It’s like the feeling you got as a kid the first time you had a crush on someone…the butterflies, the nervousness – and for me, clumsiness and feeling flustered! – and right then I knew I had to get to know him better. We exchanged numbers, started texting frequently, and a few weeks later he officially asked me to be his girlfriend!
Over the months we grew closer and closer and to this day he is my absolute best friend. My rock. The past couple of years have been especially difficult for me, and Charlie has always been a shoulder to cry on when I needed one and the guy to make me laugh when I needed cheering up. He just knows me.
Recently, Charlie even helped me draw up a tattoo idea that I’ve been playing around with for such a long time. My nana, who has been having more and more health issues as the days go on, absolutely LOVES horses! So to remember her by, I wanted to get a horse tattooed on me that represented her and her bright outlook on life. Charlie drew the outline and I did an abstract watercolor painting to fill it in. It turned out beautifully! It’s something I will always treasure (and my nana loves it as well)!
This past March, we booked a trip to the Caribbean for a week. It was amazing!! On our fourth night there, we went for a hike and ended up on top of the most beautiful mountain with absolutely breathtaking views… and that’s when Charlie got down on one knee and popped the question!! I’d be lying if I said I didn’t cry a little! :) It was everything I had dreamed it would be! The best part was that after it was over, he grabbed my hand and led me over to a rock nearby where his phone was sitting. He picked up his phone and told me that he had recorded the whole thing, which made my cry even more happy tears since pictures and videos mean the world to me. So now I can relive that awesome moment over and over!
When we were trying to think of where we wanted to have our engagement pictures done, we had a lot of different places in mind. I’m a beach bum all the way, so a big part of me wanted to have them taken at the beach, but I’m also an old soul and love anything and everything vintage, so after a lot of thinking, we decided to have a 50’s themed engagement shoot at a local fair (inspired by The Notebook, of course)!
Megan did an absolutely OUTSTANDING job and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better photographer. She was able to work with us to capture exactly the feel I was hoping this shoot would have. We feel so blessed to have her as our photographer and are now even more excited for our big day to arrive!!
