Getting to be a part of Jake & Jenna’s wedding day at Spring Hill Manor was such an honor. And to capture it all through these photos was even more of a privilege! Oh my goodness, I could write a BOOK about these two and how much fun they are to be around. After I photographed their engagement session in January, I just knew that their wedding day was going to be so full of joy and laughter and I was right! Jake and Jenna are just two fun-loving souls who found each other and decided to spend the rest of their lives together. Their wedding day was rustic AND elegant, which is basically what I’m going for for my own wedding next May! I told Jenna that I just might steal her entire wedding… just kidding!! ;) One thing I WILL steal is how well she planned her timeline! Jake and Jenna opted to do a FIRST LOOK and because of it, we had so much time for portraits! It was amazing!! Just wait until you see how many bride & groom portraits they got out of their wedding day because we built in so much portrait time. I’m so glad I got the honor to celebrate such a fun day with these two! I just love how Jenna told her story to me, so I’m just gonna leave this right here… :)
Jake and I met in Spanish class in high school in 2005 when he was a junior and I was a sophomore. We became best friends but we didn’t start actually dating until he graduated in 2007 (I guess he realized he couldn’t be away from me!). So, now we have been together for 7 years which always feels so crazy to say because it feels like we are so young! We got engaged in New York City in Central Park on November 22, 2013, which is now my second favorite day ever after the wedding!
When we came back home from New York, our venue hunt began! We knew we were going for a rustic country feel and it had to be somewhere where we felt totally comfortable being ourselves. Spring Hill Manor was the first venue we visited and we immediately fell in love with its old, country appeal. Even in the midst of the venues antique sale where the barn is basically covered from end to end with fun items, we still saw our wedding vision coming true. My color scheme changed about 30 times thanks to pinterest, but I finally decided on a mixture of navy, blush, and gold with the groomsmen blending in some gray. Seeing everything together was so amazing after picking out all these tiny details over a year and a half and being unsure what it would all look like. To go with our rustic, country theme, my bridesmaids and I all wore cowgirl boots! My husband made all of the chalkboards at our wedding (clearly he is the artistic one!) which made them even more special and all of our guests were drinking out of mason jars.
Our wedding day could not have gone more perfectly. From getting ready, to dancing the night away we felt so at ease and in a state of complete bliss all day. My bridesmaids, my mother and mother in law all got ready at the hotel in the morning and we could hear the boys having a blast next door! Then, it was off to out first look! This is 100% my favorite element of our wedding day, other than saying “I Do”!. I was a ball of nerves and so afraid that I wouldn’t get to appreciate seeing my soon-to-be husband for the first time if it had to be while all of my friends and family were watching me walk down the aisle. Having a first look was the best choice we made, we had the most beautiful moment all to ourselves to just take in the fact that we were hours away from being husband and wife.
We arrived at our venue in a school bus which was so fun. Then the main event began! We were able to attend our cocktail hour which I loved; it gave us a chance to talk to our guests before the partying began. At the end of the best day of our lives we had a “sparkler send off” and it was so fun running through them and having Megan take our pictures! I could not have dreamed of a more perfect, beautiful wedding day and we are so happy to begin our journey and husband and wife!
Time for their First Look!! I always get butterflies photographing these… always such a sweet moment!
Just the beginning of SO MANY bride + groom portraits!! Ahhh! I was in photographer heaven with these two.
I told you they were fun!! Haha!
Jenna you are drop dead gorgeous!
Time to go get MARRIED!!!
There were so many tears shed during the vows and it was just precious!
Married!!!!!!
Jenna danced with her mom to “Never Grow Up” by Taylor Swift and I may or may not have bawled behind my camera the. entire. time. SO sweet.
Then we went back outside for even more bride and groom portraits… but with glowy sunset light this time. Be still my heart.
Favorite.
Then it was time to party!!!
