There are few moments in life when you can really feel the passing of time. Usually you look back and only realize in hindsight how much time has gone by… and I totally experienced that when we were taking Mia to school 3 hours away. But I was also reminded just how much life is out of my control, including the passing of time. I wrote in my journal that it feels like just a few years ago we were all under the age of 10 and playing in the above ground pool in our backyard. We had such a fun childhood in Indiana and did SO many outdoorsy things to pass the time as kids! We were each other’s best friends. Constantly giggling, playing games, making up choreographed dances to Hilary Duff songs, and teasing each other endlessly. I felt so sad dropping Mia off at school because it meant that this era has really officially come to a close, even though it’s been ending for years now as we’ve all gotten older. Never again will we all live under the same roof (at least I’m pretty sure we won’t!) and that makes me sad. But I know with distance comes a new kind of closeness. I know Alexa and Mia LOVE their lives off at school (Alexa is in rural Indiana and Mia is in southern coastal Virginia) and for that I’m so happy for them.
Now I’m still at home stuck in this little “in between” season getting ready to get married and move out at the same time… and that’s difficult somedays feeling like I’m not moving forward like everyone else is… but I know those changes are just going to come all at once for me rather than gradually! And a year from now – God willing! – Justin and I will be sitting in our very first home together and I’m not sure that will EVER get old!! ;) For now I will live vicariously through my sisters off making their own new adventures. Mia, we are so proud of you and I can’t wait to see what you accomplish in your college career. We love you!!!
An entire suburban full of Mia’s stuff! She took her entire bedroom with her!! And we had to grab a picture with Hailey (and Logan!) before we left!
Checking in and getting her room key!!!
Dad overseeing the setting up of everything!
And here it is! Two days worth of work…! Haha
I constructed that bookshelf and had only ONE crack in the wood at the end of it all. (Hammered a nail just a little too closely to the edge. Lol)
The string lights were my favorite addition!! Have an amazing year, Mia! I hope you love your new home! :)
