So this probably seems kinda silly, but our venue visit day is one I’ve been counting down to for almost the entire summer. Justin and I are in a season where we usually see each other for a couple of hours a week… and those hours are spent working out, watching a movie, or working on my laptop at his house. We don’t typically spend a ton of “fun” time together so when we get an entire day to hang out with each other, it’s like the best thing ever! I know everyone tells us we’ll start to get sick of each other after marriage but I like to pretend that won’t be the case for us for at least a little while :) Because days that we get to adventure together are my favorite, but so are days that we get to just spend relaxing at his house in our comfy clothes and messy hair. Anyways… I’m getting off track now :) This past Sunday we got to explore our wedding venue, Big Spring Farm, and although my wedding planner couldn’t be there in person, she made sure to provide me with a comprehensive list of questions and observations to make while visiting about chairs, tables, maximum occupancy, distance from the barn to the ceremony site, etc. etc.! We had so much fun visiting with Jill and she was able to answer all of our questions before Buddy got back to the farm from traveling to a family reunion. He pulled up and we had already covered almost all of our questions! We didn’t think we’d catch Buddy before heading out, so we were so glad we got to visit with the both of them before heading back home.
I have to make a note here of how special it is to choose vendors that you feel a personal connection with. From your photographer to your caterer to your venue… when your vendors are ones you want to be friends with after meeting them, you can’t put a price on that level of genuine personabilty. We found ourselves sitting in Buddy and Jill’s living room eating crackers and hummus listening to Buddy play a John Legend cover on the piano for us and I found myself thinking, “how did we get here?!” Just seven months ago I wasn’t sure Justin and I would EVER get married… and four months ago, we wanted to have a wedding but had no idea how to make it happen. And now we have this beautiful place that will host the most important day of our lives and the people that call this place home are two of the nicest people we’ve ever met. I’m just over the moon happy/excited/blown away by how everything is coming together and I don’t think Justin and I will ever be able to show how grateful we are!! …But we can try!! :)
I brought my camera to take some wide angle shots of the venue from angles that aren’t typically used in blog posts from weddings done here, but of course we ended up in a few of the pictures as well (thanks Jill)!! Despite a speeding ticket and crazy traffic that turned a 3 hour drive into a 5.5 hour one, this day was SO much fun and I’ll remember it forever!!
We’re getting married here!!!!
These pictures honestly don’t do it justice… the water is so blue here!!
So glad my best friend/bridesmaid Meredith lives nearby and got to tag along! We had so many laughs!!
And then we went to check out some possible wedding night accomodations for me and Justin and in the process got to see downtown Lexington in all its historic glory. It was so cute we had to do a few pictures. Haha! Everywhere we go…
Thank you Buddy & Jill for being amazing and making us feel so welcome and loved! We are so excited that you’re going to be a part of our wedding day!! :)
