One thing we all kept saying over and over again on Saturday was, “I can’t believe it’s here!” It felt like I had just been talking to Lauren and Jeff on the phone hearing all about how they met, how they got engaged, and what they were envisioning for their wedding day. In reality, it has been a YEAR!! I was getting married just a week after I first spoke with Lauren and Jeff and oh my goodness has the year flown by! After their West Village engagement session in New York City last summer, it felt like the time just flew by!
May weddings will always have a special place in my heart after our own wedding day. The weather is still cool, spring blossoms still spot the landscapes, and the trees still have that gorgeous green glow that comes after April rain. I hadn’t shot at Whitehall Estate in several years and coming back here, it was even more beautiful than I remembered! The mountains of Bluemont are so close it feels like you can touch them, and as the sun sets behind their peaks, twilight lights up the sky and the venue comes even more alive. I loved shooting at Whitehall and I hope Jeff and Lauren know just how gorgeous their wedding day there was!!
When I gave Lauren a hug at the end of the night, I told her “I can’t wait for you to see the pictures… I have so many favorites! Like, all-time favorites of mine!!” It’s true. There are several shots in here that I’m really proud of because they capture the joy and emotion of the day as well as the fun elements Lauren & Jeff incorporated into their wedding… like the bubble send-off outside of the church, the fuchsia bridesmaids dresses, the gorgeous florals with peonies and anemone and pops of blush, and of course, Lauren’s stunning Caroline Castigliano gown. NONE of us could get over the train and A-line silhouette. It was so pretty, and so was Lauren… she just has an elegance about her that made her one beautiful bride. I’m sure all her guests would agree!
Lauren and Jeff, thank you so much for having me be a part of your wedding day. It was an honor to be the one to capture these memories for you, and I hope you treasure your photos for years to come!! Have the BEST time in South Africa on your honeymoon!!
