I am SO HAPPY I am blogging our winter New England babymoon before our baby actually arrives (any day now)! We visited Newport, Rhode Island and surrounding areas a couple months ago for our babymoon… and it was simply amazing. Honestly, it was probably our favorite trip we have ever been on together… and we have traveled A LOT of places (Portugal, Ireland, Germany, Iceland, France, Spain, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Morocco just to name a few)! I couldn’t stop thinking or talking about it for weeks after we got back home. It was just so relaxing and such a special time together cozying up by the fireplace, getting coffee every morning, and eating all the yummy seafood and classic New England desserts!
from this day forward…
This was our first time staying in a bed & breakfast and we LOVED it! We found the Beech Tree Inn & Cottage on Booking.com and it was such a great off season deal (we were there for 5 nights over MLK Weekend in January)! The complimentary breakfast each morning was so delicious. There were pastries (ugh the banana bread, SO GOOD) and made-to-order entrees… the BEST part was that we could order more than one! So I’d get scrambled eggs with bacon AND French Toast… a pregnant person’s dream!! We loved sleeping in and then taking our time having breakfast together downstairs. Very rarely in the past have we slept in on every day of a vacation, and it was so wonderful that I’m vowing to only do that on vacations here forward! Probably best with a baby anyway to have a leisurely pace! ;)
On our trip, we visited…
- Newport, Rhode Island
- Narragansett, Rhode Island
- Watch Hill, Rhode Island
- New Haven, Connecticut (Yale University!)
- Boston, Massachusetts
- Providence, Rhode Island
- and more!!
We basically just road tripped up and down the New England coast, never having to drive more than an hour and a half or so in either direction from Newport. It was a great base for our exploring, and we cannot WAIT to come back in warmer weather to relax on the beaches, sip wine at the castles and see the coastline in summertime! Though at 27 weeks pregnant, I REALLY enjoyed the cold weather and all the snow… it was the best!!! So cozy and charming and romantic!
one last getaway!
We will never forget this trip as our last romantic getaway before starting a family! I highly recommend everyone take a babymoon, even if it’s just for a night or two at a local bed & breakfast or nice hotel… it was just special to spend that time together and have one last adventure just the two of us before welcoming a baby into the world. We can’t wait to return with our daughter (and maybe more!) someday!
I love how pretty the coastline was from the air!! The water was so blue/green! It surprised me!
We went to a winery on the water… that was closed for the season. Haha! We’ll just have to come back!
My first MILKSHAKE in so long!!! I had been watching my sugar intake so closely this pregnancy because my glucose test was hanging over my head. I let myself enjoy this strawberry malt and it was INCREDIBLE. (And I passed my glucose screening with flying colors.)
Touring around Newport!
I just imagine what the person who originally lived in this house would think if they saw my pregnant self posing by their piano.
Newport car museum! Justin LOVED it! (So did I!)
The sunset light is so pretty because of the coastline!
This gorgeous resort is in Watch Hill, Rhode Island… it is huge!
No, I totally didn’t stop by Taylor Swift’s house…
I mean… baby girl HAD to meet her mom’s favorite musician. No regrets.
Imagine having this as your BACKYARD!!
Exploring New Haven on a very snowy day!!!
These were the star of the show on this babymoon… my first pair of LL Bean boots. SO COMFY & WARM.
All bundled up but loving being on the beach!!
More fancy cars and more fancy houses to see!
That dessert on the right was at the MOST delicious French restaurant in Newport… worth every penny!!
Dave’s Coffee! :) We wish we had bought some syrup!
How pretty is this view?!
Okay… maybe I got a little cold for a second. ;)
Exploring YALE UNIVERSITY! It reminded me so much of being in England!
We heard that we had to try some pizza in New Haven! This place was just okay… it was good, but not GREAT. We’ll have to go back and try the other 3 pizza places. :)
Why didn’t I go to Yale?!
Can’t believe we got the snowiest day!! It was the best!
The homes around Newport are just gorgeous!
Another day, another beach!
Thought this looked so cool!
I LOVE YOU.
Wandering around Boston!!!
I believe this is Trinity Church?! It was closed! And they were filming a MOVIE out front!!
Justin’s INCREDIBLE sub that I was so so jealous of. I cannot wait to eat deli meat again.
In Little Italy!
We thought these Boston row houses looked so amazing!
FENWAY POCK!!
Our last morning before our flight home, we explored Providence! So artsy!
Loved all the snow we had on this trip. It was just the best! Sweetest winter babymoon ever.
